I've succesfully built a 3.11.4 based raspi kernel, sources in git based on openSUSE-13.1 kernel. Let's see if it boots.

If anybody is interested, updating RPi kernel for opensuse is easy nowadays, the upstream patches live in a github repo and adding them to the package is straightforward. There's a 3.16 based kernel in https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/homeadd-emojiARM:RaspberryPi/kernel-raspberrypi .
